Marvin "Bux" Buxkemper, age 77, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012. He was born May 15, 1934 in Victoria, Texas to the late George H. and Agnes Knezek Buxkemper.
Bux retired in 1996 as a Sr. Captain for the Victoria Fire Department, Station #1. He worked for over 36 years and proudly wore Badge #47. He also worked part-time for Lack's for 21 years. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1952. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. He was always ready to help someone, and liked to bar-b-que and...

Marvin "Bux" Buxkemper, age 77, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012. He was born May 15, 1934 in Victoria, Texas to the late George H. and Agnes Knezek Buxkemper.
Bux retired in 1996 as a Sr. Captain for the Victoria Fire Department, Station #1. He worked for over 36 years and proudly wore Badge #47. He also worked part-time for Lack's for 21 years. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1952. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. He was always ready to help someone, and liked to bar-b-que and cook for large groups (a trait he picked up working for the Fire Dept.). He served in the United States Navy for 8 years during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion. Bux was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Buxkemper; daughters, Tracy Bright and husband Richard of Friendswood and Tammy Schaefer and husband Danny of Atlanta, Georgia; stepchildren, Polly A. Dunnell and husband Les Posey, Patty M. Mettetal; Mary Lynn Deaton and husband James, all of Victoria, Ricky Cortright and wife Shelly of Goliad, Mike Cortright of Farmington, New Mexico, and David Cortright and wife Lisa of Victoria; brother, Lawrence Buxkemper of Houston; 2 grandchildren, Chet and Sawyer; 12 step-grandchildren, James, Susan, Jason, Jerimy, Chris, Amanda, Travis, Carly, Erica, LeeAnn, Ashley, and Cody; 9 step-great grandchildren, Serrenity, Faith, Brooklyn, Claire, Kayden, D.J., Ethan, Amber, and Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Billy Buxkemper; and step-grandson, Kevin Cortright.
Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, January 6, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with the Msgr. Michael Harrold officiating. The Victoria Fire Department will stand Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be James Koenig, Jon Nichols, Benny Pantel, John Bradley, Jode Zavesky, and Leslie Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons, Chet Bright, Sawyer Bright, and step-grandsons, Jerimy Green, Chris Green, Cody Cortright, Jason Huber, Travis Cortright, James Dunnell and Ethan Brown.
Burial with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
