Howard S. Hazlewood, age 85, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2011. He was born May 19, 1926 in Groesbeck, Texas to the late James Howard and Lola Belle Lenamon Hazlewood. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was an Insurance Representative for Lutheran Brotherhood / Thrivent Financial for many years, and had previously worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an engineer. Howard S. Hazlewood, age 85, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2011. He was born May 19, 1926 in Groesbeck, Texas to the late James Howard and Lola Belle Lenamon Hazlewood. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was an Insurance Representative for Lutheran Brotherhood / Thrivent Financial for many years, and had previously worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an engineer. Howard was a member of the Friends of the Victoria Public Library and a former member and past-president of the Victoria County Genealogical Society.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara K. Hazlewood of San Antonio; sons, James H. Hazlewood and wife Linda of Phoenix, Arizona and Douglas R. Hazlewood and wife Grace of Victoria; six grandchildren, Amy Brown Beers, Amanda Brown, Erin Hazlewood, Stephen Hazlewood, Kelsey Hazlewood, and Rachel Hazlewood; and three great grandchildren, Ashley Beers, Kaitlyn Beers and John Connor Beers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Charlotte Ann Hazlewood.
Visitation will be held 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
The Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors will be held at the church service under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.
