Donald Rexford Hecox, 90, of Victoria, Texas died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born March 26, 1921 in Cozad, Nebraska, the son of Rexford Hecox and Margaret Janssen.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and worked at Alcoa in St. Louis, Missouri, Benton, Arkansas, Suriname, South America, and Port Lavaca, Texas. He was a volunteer at Christ's Kitchen and for AARP Volunteer Tax Assistance.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy as a Lieutenant JG...

Donald Rexford Hecox, 90, of Victoria, Texas died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born March 26, 1921 in Cozad, Nebraska, the son of Rexford Hecox and Margaret Janssen.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and worked at Alcoa in St. Louis, Missouri, Benton, Arkansas, Suriname, South America, and Port Lavaca, Texas. He was a volunteer at Christ's Kitchen and for AARP Volunteer Tax Assistance.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy as a Lieutenant JG on the ship 150 Bergan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 45 years, Betty Price Hecox, and sister, Orvene Weldon.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Helen Farnsworth Hecox of Victoria, Texas; brother, Fred Hecox, of Cozad, Nebraska; two sons, James Rexford Hecox and wife Anna of Converse, Texas, and Thomas William Hecox of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter, Janet Hecox Toombs of North Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Barret Toombs and wife Jenny, Jennifer Toombs, and Captain Jeffrey Hecox and wife Sarah; four great grandchildren: Hayden Smith, Austin Toombs, Tyler Toombs and Bryan Toombs; step-children: Marilyn Curtis and husband Richard, Edwin Haas and wife Margaret; and step granddaughter, Melinda Haas.

Visitation will be held 6:00 pm -8:00 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Chapel in Victoria, Texas with the Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Burial with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be James Hecox, Thomas Hecox, Edwin Haas, Barret Toombs, Captain Jeffery Hecox, and Richard Curtis. Honorary pallbearers include Lyle Groth, Jennifer Toombs, Hayden Smith, Austin Toombs, Tyler Toombs and Bryan Toombs.
